Brand Voice Memory Block
A CLAUDE.md block that keeps every draft on brand across a project.
A project memory block for CLAUDE.md that encodes your brand tone, voice rules, and banned words so everything Claude Code writes in that project stays consistent without re-explaining the brand each time.
By Alice Marketer
Re-explaining your brand voice in every prompt is a tax you pay forever. Claude Code reads a CLAUDE.md file at the root of a project automatically, so a voice block placed there applies to every draft without you pasting it again. Fill in the placeholders once and the whole project inherits your tone.
The memory block
Add this to CLAUDE.md at the root of your marketing project.
## Brand voice
Apply these rules to all copy you write in this project: blog posts, emails,
social posts, ad copy, and page text.
Personality: [describe the brand in 3 to 5 adjectives, e.g. direct, warm,
technical but plain spoken].
We sound like: [name a reference, e.g. a knowledgeable friend who respects the
reader's time].
Rules:
- Write in [first person plural / second person]. Address the reader as "you".
- Reading level: aim for [e.g. grade 7 to 9]. Short sentences over long ones.
- Lead with the outcome, then the detail. No throat clearing.
- Use concrete specifics (numbers, names, examples) over vague claims.
- Format for scanning: short paragraphs, lists, and bold subheads.
Never use: [list banned words and phrases, e.g. em dashes, "leverage",
"seamless", "game changer", "in today's world", exclamation stacks].
When unsure whether something is on brand, choose the plainer, more specific
option. Show, do not hype.

Yes. Start a new session so the CLAUDE.md file is picked up, then spot check the first few outputs and tighten the rules where the voice drifts.
What should the block actually contain?
Personality adjectives, a voice reference, concrete rules (person, reading level, formatting), and a banned words list. Fill in every placeholder with your real brand details rather than leaving the examples.
